Job Description
Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting high-needs EBD classrooms in a welcoming, established school environment near Phoenix. This contract opportunity runs from July 20 to December 18, with the potential to extend for the right fit. Full-time positions are available across self-contained classrooms, serving students in grades K-8. Youll be able to express your grade level preferences as part of your placement.
What youll bring:
- Active Special Education Teacher certification and relevant AZ credentials
- Prior experience in EBD or high-needs special education settings
- Ability to adapt quickly and independently to established school routines and systems
- Comfort supervising and collaborating with paraprofessional staff
- Strong organizational, behavioral management, and communication skills
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each students needs
- Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment focusing on both academic and social-emotional growth
- Lead a classroom of up to 20 students (typically 15 or fewer), bolstered by paraprofessional assistance
- Supervise, mentor, and collaborate with paraprofessionals to maintain classroom safety and effectiveness
- Work closely with families, support staff, and administration to maximize student success
- Arrive at least 15 minutes before the student day (7:30 am-2:30 pm) to prepare and ensure a smooth start
