Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Multiple positions are available to support K-12 students in self-contained and resource classrooms near Grand Blanc, MI. These roles are designed for committed educators who thrive in dynamic, urban environments and excel at meeting diverse student needs.
Opportunities include Cognitive Impairment positions across all grade levels, a Middle School Emotional Impairment position, and Resource Classrooms that welcome Learning Disabilities, Emotional, and Cognitive Impairment endorsements. Flexibility is key, as classroom caseloads may adjust to meet current district requirements. Teachers will have the support of a robust special education team, access to a mentor, continuous professional development, and dedicated building-level professionals such as paraprofessionals and behavior specialists.
Qualifications & Experience Desired:
- Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate with endorsements in Emotional Impairment (EI), Cognitive Impairment (CI), and/or Learning Disabilities (LD). MDE Early Childhood endorsement (ZA) with another special education area is also welcomed.
- Experience or readiness to work in urban school settings
- Familiarity or willingness to learn Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and IDEA Federal Regulations
- Ability to respond thoughtfully to the challenges and resources relevant to urban children and families
- Passion for fostering inclusive, supportive classrooms
- Copy of official university transcripts required prior to consideration
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction in self-contained or resource settings (Max 22 students/class)
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, specialists, and the broader special education team
- Develop and implement IEPs
- Foster a positive, structured classroom culture
- Communicate regularly with families and school partners
