Job Description

Step into a rewarding opportunity as a Special Education Teacher for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year, supporting 4th-6th grade students in a cross-categorical self-contained classroom. Youll work in a collaborative environment with a dedicated team, including two classroom paraprofessionals and one individual aide, ensuring that every child receives the attention and care they deserve.

Your classroom will welcome 14 students with a range of disabilities, including Intellectual Disability (ID), Other Health Impairment (OHI), Autism (AUT), Specific Learning Disability (SLD), and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Your specialized skills and passion for inclusive education will allow you to create a nurturing, structured space where students can thrive and achieve their goals.

Qualifications and desired experience:

  • Valid Special Education teaching credential required
  • Experience teaching in elementary settings, preferably grades 4-6
  • Familiarity with cross-categorical and self-contained classroom models
  • Proven track record working with students with ID, OHI, AUT, SLD, and TBI
  • Ability to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapt curriculum to meet a range of student needs
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills

Primary responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement lesson plans tailored to diverse learning styles and abilities
  • Assess student progress and maintain accurate, confidential records
  • Foster a positive and supportive learning environment
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals, aides, families, and related services personnel
  • Adapt and modify instructional strategies as needed
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to team-based problem-solving
