Step into a unique teaching opportunity supporting 5th and 6th grade students in an Inclusion Math classroom. This contract position focuses on providing coverage during a maternity leave from August 13th through December 1st, bringing your expertise to a dynamic educational setting near Naval Anacost Annex, DC.
Ideal candidates have a passion for both special education and general education instruction, with the ability to build strong rapport with students across a range of abilities. Your collaboration will ensure that every learner receives support tailored to their needsmaking a lasting impact during this critical part of the academic year.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education and/or Mathematics
- Demonstrated experience in inclusion or co-teaching environments
- Success supporting differentiated instruction for upper elementary or middle school grades
- Comfort with IEP processes and accommodations
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to adapt lessons for diverse learners, including those with mild to moderate disabilities
Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, standards-based math instruction to 5th and 6th grade students in an inclusive setting
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, instructional aides, and support staff
- Implement and monitor accommodations and modifications as outlined in IEPs
- Assess student progress regularly and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
- Create a positive and supportive classroom environment that encourages participation and growth
