Job Description
An exciting opportunity is available for certified Special Education Teachers who want to make a real impact supporting students with diverse needs during the 2026-2027 school year. This contract role offers the chance to work across multiple programs in Lehigh and Carbon Counties, with specialized classrooms focusing on Autism Support, Emotional Support, and Multiple Disabilities Support. Assignments align with the school calendar from August 10, 2026, to June 11, 2027. Candidates must reside within a 35-minute commute of the program locations.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Pennsylvania Special Education certification (required or preferred per assignment)
- Recent classroom experience in special education settings
- Ability to create and implement individualized IEP goals
- Strong classroom management
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration with related service providers, paraprofessionals, and families
- Preferred experience in:
- Autism programming and evidence-based interventions (ABA, AAC, PECS, sensory strategies)
- Supporting students with significant physical or cognitive disabilities
- Adapted curriculum, communication/life skills development, and personal care coordination
- Trauma-informed practices, behavior management, and emotional regulation support
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction in specialized classrooms tailored to students individualized needs
- Develop, track, and implement students IEPs
- Utilize behavioral, communication, and sensory strategies relevant to the student group
- Foster a supportive, inclusive learning environment
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams for best student outcomes
