Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with LBS1 endorsement required
- Experience teaching math at the middle school level strongly preferred
- Background working in self-contained special education settings
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with staff, students, and families
- Commitment to creating an engaging and supportive classroom atmosphere
- Solid understanding of IEP development, progress monitoring, and differentiated instruction
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as the lead educator in a middle school self-contained classroom, primarily delivering math instruction
- Utilize evidence-based strategies to adapt curriculum for diverse learning needs
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), ensuring legal compliance and meaningful progress for each student
- Collect and analyze student data to track academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth
- Collaborate with school staff, support personnel, and families to create a wraparound support system
- Foster a positive classroom climate that encourages student participation, independence, and confidence
- Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current with best practices in special education
