Key Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Special Education (K-12) required
- Knowledge and/or experience teaching students with visual impairments and additional disabilities preferred
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and collaboration abilities
- Ability and willingness to assist with lifting, positioning, and supporting students and equipment (up to 50 lbs)
- Comfortable with frequent physical movementbending, reaching, crouching, and moving wheelchairs and adaptive equipment
- Passion for working in diverse environments, including therapy areas, pools, and outdoor spaces
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver individualized instruction to students with varying needs, adapting materials into braille, large print, and accessible formats
- Develop and implement IEPs and conduct assessments in compliance with IDEA and state requirements
- Collaborate seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams, families, and service providers
- Guide and support classroom aides, ensuring a positive and engaging learning atmosphere
- Implement data-driven instructional strategies and monitor student progress
- Foster growth in academic, functional, social, and self-advocacy skills
- Stay current with best practices in vision education, actively participating in training and professional development
