Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Special Education (K-12) required
  • Knowledge and/or experience teaching students with visual impairments and additional disabilities preferred
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and collaboration abilities
  • Ability and willingness to assist with lifting, positioning, and supporting students and equipment (up to 50 lbs)
  • Comfortable with frequent physical movementbending, reaching, crouching, and moving wheelchairs and adaptive equipment
  • Passion for working in diverse environments, including therapy areas, pools, and outdoor spaces

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver individualized instruction to students with varying needs, adapting materials into braille, large print, and accessible formats
  • Develop and implement IEPs and conduct assessments in compliance with IDEA and state requirements
  • Collaborate seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams, families, and service providers
  • Guide and support classroom aides, ensuring a positive and engaging learning atmosphere
  • Implement data-driven instructional strategies and monitor student progress
  • Foster growth in academic, functional, social, and self-advocacy skills
  • Stay current with best practices in vision education, actively participating in training and professional development
