Job Description
Step into a rewarding role supporting elementary students as a Special Education Teacher in a vibrant school community near Racine, WI. These contract positions focus on students with diverse needs, offering the chance to make a real impact in supportive, well-staffed classrooms. Both opportunities include full-time hours, Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, and feature dedicated assistance from a classroom paraeducator.
Optional Position Details:
- Work closely with up to 7 students who exhibit significant behavioral challenges. Youll initially manage a smaller caseload of 2, allowing you to build strong relationships and learn individualized strategies.
- Support 7-8 students with physical disabilities and Autism, adapting instruction and fostering an inclusive environment that addresses their unique strengths and needs.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Wisconsin Cross Categorical K-5 Certification is required
- Experience with elementary students, especially those with behavioral, physical, or developmental challenges
- Strong collaboration skills; comfortable working alongside paraeducators and other staff
- Flexible mindset; willingness to adjust to changes in caseload and student needs
- Familiarity with IEP development and implementation considered a plus
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction tailored to each students learning plan
- Develop and adjust IEPs in coordination with team members and families
- Utilize positive behavioral interventions and supports
- Create an inclusive, supportive, and safe classroom environment
- Communicate progress clearly to parents and school staff
