Job Description
Make a meaningful impact in the lives of middle school students by providing vital support as a Special Education Teacher on a contract assignment near Richmond, VA. In this role, youll work closely with a small caseload of six students who are navigating emotional and behavioral challenges while accessing the general curriculum. The position runs from August 19 to May 30, offering a consistent weekday schedule with 7.25 hours per day, five days a week, at a single school site.
What We're Looking For:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification or appropriate licensure required
- Experience working with middle school students is highly preferred
- Knowledge of individualized education plans (IEPs) and general curriculum standards
- Strong understanding of social-emotional learning strategies and behavioral interventions
- Ability to adapt schedules and approaches based on student needs
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working alongside staff, families, and support teams
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive school environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction, accommodations, and behavioral supports for students within the general education setting
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans and interventions tailored to each students unique needs
- Regularly monitor student progress and adjust strategies in response to data
- Collaborate with general education teachers, counselors, and other specialists to ensure comprehensive support for each learner
- Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings
- Cultivate strong relationships with students to encourage engagement and build trust
