Engage students in specialized programs tailored for their unique needs in a supportive and collaborative educational environment. Assignments run from August 10, 2026, through June 11, 2027, following the local school calendar. Four Special Education Teacher positions are available, each focusing on diverse programs supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, multiple disabilities, and emotional support needs. Each site is within Lehigh County and Carbon County, with a required commute of 35 minutes or less.
Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
- Valid Pennsylvania Special Education teaching certification (required or preferred by assignment)
- Experience teaching in special education settings
- Strong classroom management and collaborative skills
- Proven ability to develop and implement effective IEPs
- Prior work supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (for Autism Support roles) preferred
- Background with adapted curriculum, complex needs, and multi-disciplinary care (for Multiple Disabilities Support)
- Familiarity with trauma-informed practices, behavioral intervention, and de-escalation techniques (for Emotional Support assignments)
- Experience working in IU or specialized school programs strongly valued
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction adapted to individualized student needs
- Implement and monitor IEP goals and behavioral strategies
- Manage inclusive, positive, and well-structured classroom environments
- Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals, therapists, and families
- Provide support in both academic and life skills, integrating evidence-based interventions
