Position Title: Special Education Teacher
Location: Illinois (Fully Remote)
Employment Type: Full-Time Contractor
Schedule: 37.540 Hours per week
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and student-focused Special Education Teacher to provide virtual instruction and support to students across Illinois. This fully remote opportunity is ideal for educators who are passionate about helping students with diverse learning needs achieve academic success through individualized instruction, collaboration, and evidence-based practices.
The ideal candidate will have experience developing and implementing IEPs, delivering specialized instruction, and working closely with families and multidisciplinary teams in a virtual learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct virtual special education instruction to students in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and accommodations
Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs
Conduct progress monitoring and maintain accurate documentation of student performance
Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families
Participate in IEP meetings, eligibility meetings, and multidisciplinary team discussions
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and district special education requirements
Foster a supportive, inclusive, and engaging virtual learning environment
Utilize technology and online learning platforms to effectively deliver instruction
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field required
Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Special Education endorsement, or eligibility to obtain Illinois licensure
Previous experience teaching students with disabilities
Experience in virtual instruction or tele-education preferred
Strong knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and special education compliance
Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with educational teams
Reliable internet connection and professional home office environment required
Preferred Experience
K12 special education instruction
Resource, inclusion, or self-contained classroom experience
Virtual teaching and online learning platforms
Progress monitoring and data-driven instruction
Working with students with diverse learning, behavioral, and communication needs
