Job Description
Step into a meaningful role supporting 5th and 6th grade students in an inclusion math classroom for a fall maternity leave. This contract position spans from August 13th to December 1st, offering the chance to collaborate closely with educators near Washington Navy Yard, DC. Youll work alongside both special education and general education teams to foster an engaging and accessible math learning environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education or General Education (Math) required
- Experience or knowledge of co-teaching or inclusion classroom models
- Comfortable adapting instruction for varied learning needs and abilities
- Prior teaching experience with upper elementary/middle grades preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Flexible, resourceful, and committed to student growth
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver math instruction in alignment with established curriculum and individual student goals
- Modify and differentiate lessons for students with diverse learning profiles
- Work in partnership with co-teachers, paraprofessionals, and student support staff
- Track and report student progress, collaborating in IEP meetings as needed
- Maintain a supportive, inclusive classroom environment and positive rapport with families
- Adhere to school schedules, rules, and professional standards throughout the assignment
