Seeking an enthusiastic educator with expertise in teaching students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing for a rewarding contract assignment in the Chattanooga area for the 2026-2027 school year. The assignment runs from August 5, 2026, through May 19, 2027, with approximately 35 hours per week. Youll serve a district that values specialized instruction while collaborating with dedicated teams to ensure each student receives the support they need to thrive.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid and active DOE Teaching Certification
- Experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) in school settings
- Knowledge of educational strategies and support for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Willingness to complete fingerprint-based background checks as required
- Commitment to individualized instruction and collaborative team processes
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, tailored to individual learning needs
- Support students across various schools and age groups as determined by final district assignments
- Utilize a variety of communication methods, including sign language and auditory/oral techniques, as appropriate
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to foster inclusive learning environments
- Monitor and document student progress, maintaining compliance with all special education requirements
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to DHH education
