Passionate about making a difference in the lives of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing? A full-time contract opportunity is available for an experienced Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in the scenic Chattanooga area, with an assignment beginning August 5, 2026, and ending May 19, 2027. Youll provide specialized instruction and support, using your expertise to empower learners and collaborate with dynamic school teams.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Department of Education teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing required
- Experience teaching students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a school-based setting preferred
- Strong understanding of IEP development, documentation, and implementation
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills
- Must successfully complete fingerprinting and all time-sensitive credentialing requirements prior to start
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative educational services to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students, ages and caseloads to be confirmed as district numbers are finalized
- Collaborate with general and special educators as well as related service staff to support student access and engagement
- Assist with IEP development and implementation, ensuring tailored instruction and accommodations
- Communicate regularly with families and participate in district meetings as required
- Travel between schools within the assignment area, as needed
