Job Description
Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting K-12 students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired. This position focuses on providing expert instruction tailored to students with visual impairments in a school-based setting. With part-time hours, the role offers the chance to make meaningful contributions to students success while maintaining a highly flexible schedule. While onsite services are preferred, virtual (VOCO) instruction is also welcomed for the right candidate.
Qualifications:
- Current, valid Michigan teaching license for Visually Impaired students (verification required through the state's educator credential portal)
- Experience working with K-12 learners with visual impairments in educational settings
- Strong skills in adapting curriculum and materials for various levels of visual ability
- Comfort with technology for both onsite and virtual service delivery
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, families, and students
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support services to visually impaired students, aligning with their unique learning goals
- Assess and track student progress, modifying instructional strategies as needed
- Recommend and train on assistive technology and classroom adaptations
- Collaborate with educators, specialists, and family members to promote student engagement and independence
- Maintain thorough documentation on services provided and student progress
