Job Description

Make a real difference in the lives of students by providing specialized support as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in a contract role near Bel Air, MD. This opportunity places you in a well-established team that includes five experienced TVIs and one Orientation and Mobility specialist. Youll primarily serve a cluster of schools, delivering impactful vision services as outlined in each students Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

Your schedule will follow the academic calendar, beginning August 31, 2026, with a consistent weekly commitment of 37.5 hours across five days.

Qualifications and Certifications Needed:

  • Valid credentials/certification for teaching visually impaired students, meeting all state and local requirements
  • Demonstrated experience or educational background in working with visually impaired children preferred
  • Familiarity with adapting general curriculum for vision needs and collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Capacity to travel between schools as necessary within the district

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction and consultation in accordance with students IEPs
  • Adapt educational materials to suit a variety of visual needs
  • Offer consultative support to staff and families, bolstering inclusion and academic progress
  • Participate in IEP meetings, assessments, and team planning activities
  • Maintain thorough documentation and ongoing communication with staff and families
