Job Description
Make an impact supporting students with visual impairments in a well-established educational environment near Essex, MD. This school community is seeking a dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired for the upcoming academic year, working alongside five fellow TVIs and an Orientation & Mobility specialist. In this contract role, youll provide specialized vision services across a cluster of schools, meeting each students needs as identified in their IEP.
Your Role Will Involve:
- Delivering vision instruction and accommodations tailored to individual IEP goals
- Collaborating with a supportive network of TVIs, O&M specialists, classroom teachers, and other professionals
- Traveling to various schools within the area to deliver direct and consultative services
- Maintaining accurate records of student progress and service delivery
- Participating in IEP meetings and contributing to student planning
- Advocating for accessibility and inclusion within the educational environment
What Were Looking For:
- Valid and current certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI); meeting all state credentialing requirements
- Experience serving K-12 students with visual impairments, preferably within a school setting
- Strong understanding of IEP processes, assistive technology, and adaptive materials
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- Ability to adapt instruction for students with diverse needs
Position Details:
- Contract dates begin on 8/31/2026
- Schedule of 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday
- Compensation offered at $35-40 per hour, paid weekly
