Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Valid teaching certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or equivalent
• Experience working with K-12 students in diverse educational settings
• Knowledge of adaptive technology and instructional resources for visually impaired learners
• Strong communication skills for collaboration with classroom teachers, families, and related service staff
• Ability to travel regionally within the county for regular school visits
• Dedication to fostering inclusive and accessible educational environments
• Comfortable maintaining a manageable, regionally split caseload

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and consultation to students with visual impairments across multiple schools (itinerant model)
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs
• Collaborate with general educators, support staff, and families to deliver effective interventions and accommodations
• Conduct functional vision assessments and recommend appropriate classroom modifications and assistive technology
• Advocate for accessibility and participate in team meetings to support student progress
• Monitor student development and adjust strategies as needed
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal guidelines
• This position does not involve virtual instruction (NO TO VOCO)
