Job Description
Make an impact supporting students with visual impairments by providing expertise and individualized instruction in a dynamic educational setting near Middle River, MD. This contract opportunity begins on August 31, 2026, and offers a consistent Monday through Friday schedule, totaling 37.5 hours each week. As part of a collaborative teamworking alongside five Teachers for the Visually Impaired (TVIs) and one Orientation & Mobility specialistyoull travel between several school locations to deliver essential vision services as outlined in students IEPs.
Key qualifications:
- Valid teaching credentials/certification for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with school-aged children with visual impairments preferred
- Strong understanding of IEP implementation and documentation requirements
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and other educators
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Flexibility and adaptability to serve a cluster of schools as needed
Role responsibilities:
- Provide direct instructional services to students with visual impairments across multiple school sites
- Assess students functional vision and educational needs, recommending appropriate accommodations and resources
- Contribute expertise during IEP meetings and collaborate on goal-setting
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and progress reports
- Consult and partner with classroom teachers and staff to support inclusive practices and ensure accessibility
- Foster independence and self-advocacy for each student
