Make a meaningful difference in students lives as an Adaptive Physical Education (APE) teacher supporting learners throughout the school year. In this on-site contract opportunity, you'll travel between schools as an itinerant professional, designing engaging, accessible physical education experiences that foster growth, inclusion, and confidence for all students. This rewarding position runs from August 11, 2026, through June 4, 2027, offering 35 hours each week within a dynamic and welcoming educational environment. Compensation for this role ranges from $63$67 per hour.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Valid California teaching credential is required for this position.
- Strong knowledge of adaptive physical education best practices and curricular adaptation strategies.
- Previous experience as an APE teacher or in a related educational or therapy setting is highly valued.
- Familiarity with supporting children of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Ability to travel between multiple school sites and manage an itinerant caseload effectively.
- Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills with a focus on teamwork.
Responsibilities Include:
- Delivering adaptive physical education for students with diverse physical and developmental needs.
- Developing individualized student plans and collaborating with classroom staff, therapists, and families.
- Implementing creative, safe, and inclusive PE activities tailored to each students strengths and challenges.
- Monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate records in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Participating in IEP meetings and contributing to ongoing program development.
- Maintaining compliance with district and state guidelines for adaptive PE services.
