Make a meaningful impact by providing critical social, academic, and emotional support to elementary students on a contract basis. This opportunity at a vibrant primary school serves a community of approximately 285 eager young learners. In this setting, you will be the sole school counselor, empowered to shape a comprehensive support program while working in a collaborative, student-centered environment.
Your role encompasses delivering guidance lessons, leading small groups focused on student growth, and offering one-on-one counseling tailored to a variety of needs. Youll work alongside dedicated educators, helping to foster an inclusive and positive school climate across all grade levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide classroom guidance lessons on social-emotional learning, conflict resolution, and similar topics
- Offer individual counseling for students requiring more personal support
- Facilitate small group sessions based on shared needs or goals
- Consult with teachers and parents to address academic and behavioral concerns
- Coordinate referrals to outside resources and community agencies as needed
- Maintain accurate student records and ensure confidentiality at all times
Desired Qualifications:
- Maine Educator Certification with School Counselor Endorsement (075 required)
- Prior experience as a school or guidance counselor at the elementary level strongly preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently as the sole counselor for the school
- Empathy, adaptability, and a collaborative mindset
