Job Description

Make an impact supporting students as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist on a contract opportunity serving Pre-K through 8th grade. You'll be instrumental in helping students develop safe, independent travel skills and greater confidence, providing consultative services as part of a collaborative educational team.

Leverage your expertise while enjoying a flexible scheduleservices are scheduled for 30 minutes per month per student and can be completed within a predetermined timeframe, allowing for maximum adaptability to your existing commitments. Qualifications:

  • Possess a valid Washington School Orientation and Mobility Specialist ESA Certificate, or
  • Hold a Washington ESA with a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) or National Orientation and Mobility Certification (NOMC)
  • Solid understanding of orientation and mobility instruction for visually impaired students
  • Experience delivering consultative services in a school or pediatric setting is preferred
  • Strong communication skills and commitment to collaborating with families, educators, and support staff

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert consultation on orientation and mobility to staff, students, and families for Pre-K8th grade learners
  • Conduct needs assessments and help develop or support individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Contribute recommendations on environmental adaptations and safe travel in a school environment
  • Maintain thorough documentation and reporting aligned to educational requirements
  • Offer flexible support sessions30 minutes per monthwithin agreed timeframes for maximum convenience
