This assignment, running from August 13th to May 28th, focuses on providing essential related services to a small caseload of students in a supportive school environment. Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
- Experience working with elementary-aged children preferred
- Ability to assess mobility needs and create individualized instructional plans
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with educational teams and families
- Organizational skills to manage and document progress for a limited caseload
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver Orientation and Mobility instruction to two elementary students as a related service under IEP guidelines
- Conduct thorough assessments and develop customized strategies to support safe and effective mobility within the school environment and community settings
- Collaborate with special education staff, general educators, and families to ensure consistency and support in meeting student goals
- Provide training and consultation to school teams regarding best practices for working with students with visual impairments
- Maintain accurate records of sessions, progress reports, and compliance with program requirements
