This assignment, running from August 13th to May 28th, focuses on providing essential related services to a small caseload of students in a supportive school environment. Key Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
  • Experience working with elementary-aged children preferred
  • Ability to assess mobility needs and create individualized instructional plans
  • Strong communication skills for collaboration with educational teams and families
  • Organizational skills to manage and document progress for a limited caseload

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Orientation and Mobility instruction to two elementary students as a related service under IEP guidelines
  • Conduct thorough assessments and develop customized strategies to support safe and effective mobility within the school environment and community settings
  • Collaborate with special education staff, general educators, and families to ensure consistency and support in meeting student goals
  • Provide training and consultation to school teams regarding best practices for working with students with visual impairments
  • Maintain accurate records of sessions, progress reports, and compliance with program requirements
