Job Description

Make a meaningful impact supporting elementary students as a resource classroom Instructional Assistant! This contract opportunity is available near Blue Springs, MO, providing essential academic and behavioral support to K-5 learners in both general education and special education resource settings.

Your primary responsibilities will focus on working alongside educators to help students succeed academically, while also supporting their behavioral growth through positive reinforcement and strategies such as calm-down corners. Strong communication skills, patience, and flexibility are key in this role, as you will provide accommodations for testing and facilitate smooth transitions throughout the school day.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Previous paraprofessional or instructional assistant experience in a school setting is highly desired
• Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, specialists, and other paraprofessionals
• Experience supporting students with a variety of learning and behavioral needs
• Knowledge of academic accommodations and basic behavior management strategies
• Demonstrated ability to provide one-on-one and small group support
• High school diploma or equivalent; further education or paraprofessional certification is a plus

Key Responsibilities:

• Support K-5 students in both general education and resource classroom environments
• Help implement instructional activities and adaptations as directed by the teacher
• Monitor and encourage student engagement and learning progress
• Assist with behavioral interventions using positive strategies (e.g., calm-down corners)
• Walk students to classrooms and supervise transitions
• Provide accommodations for standardized and classroom assessments
