Step into a pivotal role supporting student communication and accessibility needs for the upcoming school year! Dedicated Sign Language Interpreters are being sought for several placements across local schools, ensuring Deaf and hard-of-hearing students thrive academically and socially.
This full-time, contract opportunity begins August 3, 2026, and concludes May 28, 2027, with a consistent 37.5-hour weekly schedule. Your assignment will be at one of several dynamic learning environments, each fostering inclusive education: May River High School, Bluffton Middle School, Robert Smalls Leadership Academy, or Battery Creek High School.
Key Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3.5 EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment).
- Proven experience in K-12 educational settings preferred.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language and a commitment to facilitating clear, effective communication.
- Familiarity with IEPs and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to adapt style and approach to various student ages and abilities.
- Strong ethical standards and dedication to confidentiality and professionalism.
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality sign language interpretation in classrooms, assemblies, and school activities.
- Support instruction, ensuring full access to curriculum content and peer interaction.
- Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and staff to create an optimal learning environment.
- Assist with team meetings, translating crucial information for students and staff.
- Provide culturally sensitive communication, adapting to diverse school settings.
