Step into a fulfilling role supporting students as a full-time Sign Language Interpreter within a Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Program at a middle school. Located near Hampshire, this contract-based opportunity is designed for those passionate about bridging communication and ensuring accessibility for all learners in an educational environment.

Desired Qualifications:

• EIPA score of 3.0 or above, and either have applied for a Professional Educator License (PEL) or possess an active PEL to interpret in schools
• Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Previous experience in a school or educational setting preferred
• Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational abilities
• Patience, adaptability, and genuine care for the unique needs of DHH students

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide real-time sign language interpretation for DHH students across academic and school-related activities
• Facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers
• Prepare for classroom lessons in advance to ensure subject matter understanding
• Collaborate with educators to adapt classroom materials and meet individual student needs
• Maintain confidentiality and follow all relevant policies for student privacy
• Participate in IEP (Individualized Education Program) meetings and contribute insights into student progress
