Job Description

Step into a meaningful role as a Sign Language Interpreter serving a high school student in an educational setting near Burlington, IL. This part-time, contract opportunity is ideal for professionals passionate about supporting communication access in schools. Working closely with one student, youll help foster a positive, inclusive learning environment each afternoon.

Key Qualifications:

• Minimum EIPA score of 3.0 or higher
• Applied for or currently hold an active Professional Educator License (PEL) with approval to interpret in Illinois schools
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong interpersonal skills
• Previous experience working with students or in school settings is highly valued
• Reliability and professionalism in maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one interpreting services for a high school student during afternoon academic sessions
• Collaborate with educational staff to support the students learning and participation
• Adapt language modality and strategies to meet individual student needs
• Accurately convey spoken and signed communication in an educational context
• Maintain required documentation of services rendered in compliance with school policies

Role Details:

• Schedule: Monday through Friday, from 12:30 3:00 pm
• Commitment: 12.5 hours per week
• Duration: Start as soon as possible and continue through May 2027
