Make an impact by supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter throughout the 2026-2027 school year! This full-time contract opportunity places you in an educational setting, collaborating with teachers and staff to facilitate clear and effective communication for deaf and hard-of-hearing students. With 37.5 hours worked weekly, you will be assigned to one of several welcoming school environments near Hilton Head Island, ensuring each day brings new experiences and opportunities to foster student success.
Key Qualifications:
- Current skills in American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting within classroom settings
- At least a 3.5 EIPA score
- Strong knowledge of Deaf culture, etiquette, and community resources
- Experience working with children or in an academic environment preferred
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adapt communication styles as needed
- Reliability and professionalism in all interactions
Responsibilities Include:
- Providing interpretation services during instructional periods, assemblies, and meetings
- Supporting students full participation in academic and extracurricular activities
- Collaborating with teachers and educational teams to enhance classroom access
- Adhering to policies and practices that protect the privacy and dignity of all students
- Engaging in ongoing professional development as required
