This long-term substitute assignment is designed to ensure consistent ASL interpreting services when neededmost immediately stepping in at an elementary school in the Myrtle Beach area should the current interpreter require leave. Your expertise will play a pivotal role in providing meaningful access and communication to a designated student, making a direct difference in their school experience.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Sign Language Interpreter certification with a minimum 3.5 EIPA score or higher
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Prior experience as a sign language interpreter in a school or educational environment strongly preferred
- Ability to adapt communication style to meet the needs of elementary-aged students
- Strong collaboration skills for working with teachers, staff, and families
Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear and accurate ASL interpreting for a designated student during all school-related activities and classroom instruction
- Facilitate communication between the student, peers, teachers, and other school personnel
- Adapt interpretations to align with student comprehension, academic content, and classroom dynamics
- Ensure confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Assist educators in fostering an inclusive and accessible learning environment for the student
