Experience the fulfillment of supporting middle school students in a full-time role as a Sign Language Interpreter with a vibrant Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Program. This contract opportunity, located near both Palatine and Hampshire, IL, offers the chance to make a direct impact in an educational environment while utilizing your expertise in American Sign Language.

What Were Looking For:

• EIPA score of 3.0 or higher
• Either a Professional Educator License (PEL) for interpreting or proof of application for PEL
• Skilled in conveying instructional content and facilitating effective classroom communication for DHH students
• Previous experience interpreting in educational settings is strongly desired
• Ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and the DHH team to ensure student success
• Professional, dependable, and resourceful in adapting to varying classroom needs

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide interpretation for students in the DHH program at the middle school level, facilitating access to the curriculum
• Support clear communication between students, staff, and other participants in school activities
• Ensure confidentiality and demonstrate cultural sensitivity
• Collaborate with educators to tailor interpretation style for individual students needs
• Participate in meetings and training sessions as part of the educational team
