Desired Skills & Qualifications:

• Current EIPA score of 3.0 or higher
• Applied for or possess an active PEL (Professional Educator License) for school interpreting
• Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL), with strong interpreting skills in educational settings
• Experience supporting children in elementary education, particularly in self-contained classroom environments, is preferred
• Strong communication abilities, flexibility, and a commitment to student advocacy

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate and clear sign language interpretation during classroom instruction, group activities, and peer interaction
• Facilitate communication between the student, educators, and classmates to ensure full participation
• Support the educational, social, and emotional development of the student by adapting interpreting approaches as needed
• Collaborate with teachers and special education staff to plan for the students unique needs
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interpreting assignments
