Step into a rewarding, full-time contract position supporting elementary-aged students as a Sign Language Interpreter in the vibrant Virginia Beach area. This role is designed for professionals passionate about providing essential communication access within educational settings. Working Monday through Friday, you'll play a critical role facilitating effective learning for students in a one-on-one capacity. Flexibility is valuedif your assigned student is absent, your interpreting skills may be utilized to assist elsewhere as needed within the district.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid VA Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III
• Strong preference for EIPA Score of 3.5 or higher; applicants with a score above 3.0 or a QAS Score of 3 or better are encouraged to apply
• Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in school environments
• Comfortable supporting elementary students in 1:1 assignments
• Familiarity with Visaphonics is advantageous, but not required
• Excellent communication and adaptability skills
• Open to traveling within the district as needed (not location-locked)

Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct sign language interpreting services to elementary students in educational settings
• Support students primarily in one-to-one scenarios, providing clarity and connection between all parties
• Adapt to scheduling changes if the assigned student is absent by serving where most needed
• Collaborate with educators and staff to promote inclusive classroom experiences
• Maintain professionalism and uphold confidentiality at all times
