Job Description
Make a significant impact supporting students and their families as a dedicated Social Worker in a dynamic educational environment. This contract position provides the unique opportunity to step in during a maternity leave, serving from January through Aprilwith potential extension through June. The role is primarily onsite but may consider virtual options for the right candidate, offering up to 40 hours per week. This is an excellent chance to work closely with students, teachers, and families, helping address social, emotional, and behavioral needs in a school setting.
Requirements:
- Hold a valid Michigan school social work certification (full certification required).
- Experience working in school settings as a social worker.
- Strong understanding of resources, counseling strategies, and student support systems within educational environments.
- Effective communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and monitor intervention plans.
- Comfortable working onsite; willingness to consider virtual opportunities as needed.
- Must be able to verify certification via the Michigan Department of Education portal.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide social work services to students, families, and staff to promote educational success.
- Conduct assessments, develop and implement intervention strategies, and offer crisis intervention when needed.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and external agencies to ensure holistic student support.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with district and state requirements.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary meetings and contribute to the development of individualized education plans (IEPs) when applicable.
- Support students in overcoming barriers to learning and foster a positive school environment.
