Job Description

Step into a vital role providing support and advocacy for students at a public STEM school serving grades 6-12 on the west side of Albuquerque. Work on a contract basis with a .8 FTE schedule, averaging 30-32 hours per week, from now through May 27th. As a School Social Worker, you'll manage a caseload of 16 IEP students and also serve as a resource for general student concerns within a close-knit school setting of approximately 325 students.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program
  • Valid state licensure as a Social Worker or eligibility for the credential
  • Previous experience in a school setting strongly preferred
  • Background in both education- and healthcare-related Social Work a plus
  • Familiarity with IEP processes and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent communication, rapport-building, and crisis intervention skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with compassion and discretion

Your Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support, counseling, and advocacy for students with IEPs
  • Address emergent social-emotional or behavioral concerns as they arise
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, administrators, families, and community partners
  • Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to IEP meetings and student planning
  • Support a positive, inclusive school climate and facilitate student success
