Job Description
Step into a dynamic and rewarding role as a Special Education Science Teacher for high school students in a contract position for the upcoming 26/27 school year. This full-time opportunity focuses on guiding 9th graders through biology and 10th graders through chemistry, offering both self-contained and co-teaching classroom experiences. Youll collaborate with passionate educators in a supportive environment near Naval Anacost Annex, DC.
Desired Background and Experience:
- Valid certification in Special Education (or eligibility for certification)
- Experience teaching high school science, especially biology and chemistry
- Strong understanding of diverse learning needs and instructional approaches
- Ability to work collaboratively with general education teachers in a co-teaching model
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive and engaging classroom
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, standards-based science instruction to students with varied needs
- Foster a positive, supportive classroom climate that encourages participation and growth
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet individual learning needs in both self-contained and co-taught settings
- Utilize data to assess student progress and guide instructional decisions
- Collaborate closely with fellow educators to create cohesive learning experiences
- Maintain accurate and timely records as required by the program (No case management required)
