Job Description

Make a meaningful impact by supporting students with high functional life skills in an engaging elementary school environment. This contract position offers you the opportunity to step in as a Special Education Teacher to cover a maternity leave, working onsite with a dedicated team from mid-October through mid-January.

At this welcoming school, you will guide a small class of approximately eight students, supported by three experienced teaching assistants. The focus is on fostering independence, social skills, and achieving individualized goals, contributing to a warm and rewarding classroom atmosphere.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid Special Education Teacher Certificate is required
• Experience teaching students with high functional life skills strongly preferred
• Background in elementary education or similar settings beneficial
• Strong communication and collaborative skills
• Ability to provide individualized instruction and behavioral strategies

Responsibilities:

• Deliver creative, engaging lessons and individualized supports to students
• Collaborate daily with teaching assistants and related service providers
• Maintain accurate records and update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) as needed
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress
• Ensure a supportive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment
• Participate in team meetings, staff development, and school activities
• Follow the schools schedule of 8:15 am3:45 pm (30-minute unpaid lunch)
