Job Description

Step into a meaningful role supporting students with high functional life skills in a dynamic elementary school setting. As a Special Education Teacher, youll be instrumental in providing individualized instruction and guidance during an extended leave coverage. With a supportive classroom team of three teaching assistants and a manageable caseload of around eight students, youll foster growth and confidence in learners who benefit from structure and encouragement.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid and active Special Education Educator Certificate
• Experience working with special education students, particularly those with high functional life skills
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with support staff and administration
• Dedication to creating a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement engaging, differentiated lesson plans targeting individual student needs
• Assess student progress and adapt instructional strategies accordingly
• Work in close collaboration with teaching assistants to provide consistent, high-quality support
• Ensure compliance with all special education IEP requirements and documentation
• Foster a classroom atmosphere where every student feels safe and valued

The assignment runs full-time from mid-October to mid-January, aligning with typical school hoursMonday through Friday, 8:15 AM to 3:45 PM, allowing for a healthy work-life balance and a mid-day break.
