Job Description

Make a meaningful difference as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, supporting students across preschool through adult transition near the vibrant Chula Vista area. This full-time, contract position will cover a maternity leave beginning October 5 and is ideal for educators dedicated to fostering access, inclusion, and achievement for Deaf and Hard of Hearing learners.

Embrace an itinerant role providing both direct instruction and consultative support across educational settings. Your expertise in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education will guide teams to ensure students thrive academically and socially. While in-person services are preferred, applicants able to provide high-quality virtual instruction will also be considered.

Qualifications:

• California credential or eligibility to teach Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
• Experience with students across a range of ages and educational placements
• Strong foundation in American Sign Language (ASL), auditory/oral, or total communication methods
• Ability to deliver engaging, accessible instruction and collaborate effectively with school teams and families
• Flexibility to travel between sites, if providing services in person
• Excellent communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct instruction in alignment with IEP goals for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
• Provide consultative support to general education teachers and related staff
• Adapt curriculum and advocate for accessible materials/accommodations
• Monitor progress, conduct assessments, and participate actively in IEP meetings
• Guide families and staff on best practices for supporting communication and learning
