Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (required)
- Profound understanding of the needs of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Experience with a variety of communication methods, including American Sign Language (ASL), Signed English, or oral/auditory approaches
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, parents, and school staff
- Ability to create and modify Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Previous experience in a school setting is preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with hearing loss, adapting teaching techniques to fit unique learning styles
- Support the academic and social-emotional growth of students by implementing specialized curricula
- Consult with general education teachers and staff to ensure accessible classroom instruction
- Monitor, assess, and report on student progress, modifying teaching strategies as needed
- Advocate for students needs, facilitate communication, and provide resources to families
- Participate in IEP meetings, case conferences, and professional development opportunities
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with school policies
