Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (required)
  • Profound understanding of the needs of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Experience with a variety of communication methods, including American Sign Language (ASL), Signed English, or oral/auditory approaches
  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, parents, and school staff
  • Ability to create and modify Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Previous experience in a school setting is preferred

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with hearing loss, adapting teaching techniques to fit unique learning styles
  • Support the academic and social-emotional growth of students by implementing specialized curricula
  • Consult with general education teachers and staff to ensure accessible classroom instruction
  • Monitor, assess, and report on student progress, modifying teaching strategies as needed
  • Advocate for students needs, facilitate communication, and provide resources to families
  • Participate in IEP meetings, case conferences, and professional development opportunities
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with school policies
