Job Description
Multiple openings are available for experienced Teachers of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to provide vital instructional services across K-12 school settings near Phoenix, AZ. This is an itinerant, 40-hour per week contract opportunity ideal for professionals passionate about supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Travel between school sites is expected, with mileage reimbursement provided to ensure smooth transitions between assignments.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Arizona teaching license with Deaf/Hard of Hearing certification (DHH)
- Current IVP fingerprint clearance card required
- Previous experience with student populations who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing preferred
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
- Ability to create and adapt lesson plans, tailoring instruction to individual needs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and specialized support to K-12 students
- Develop and prepare daily lesson plans to align with educational goals
- Conduct student evaluations and monitor academic progress
- Write and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Maintain detailed documentation and progress reports for each student
- Serve as an advocate and resource for students, families, and staff
- Travel between sites as needed; mileage reimbursed
This contract position offers pay between $40 and $44 per hour on a W2 basis, along with eligibility for comprehensive health insurance. Travel candidates are encouraged to apply, with stipends available to assist with living expenses.
