Dyslexia is the most common learning disability in the U.S.; it’s estimated that one in five Americans are affected by it. While 20 years ago educational provisions for the reading disorder were virtually nonexistent, the government now spends around $11 billion annually to help support school children with dyslexia (and other disorders).

Outsourcing education services is simply when a school district hires an outside agency to provide specialized education for their school. These services can vary from teaching through technology such as teletherapy, or simply bringing in outside school professionals to provide speech-language pathology, school psychology, and much more. In this article, we focused on the pros and cons of specifically outsourcing occupational therapy.

Schools across the country are having a hard time filling position for many school therapists. The most difficult to find applicants for are speech language pathologists, occupational therapists, and occupational therapists. Due to the demand, these therapists are often able to negotiate more when they sign a contract.
